Janus Concert Series is committed to producing compelling musical performances in a concert setting. We endeavor to connect to our community and create engaging experiences for diverse audiences through truthful storytelling and representation.

 

Our Mission

To re-examine and challenge established traditions in opera and musical theater and bridge the gap between them, finding new ways to tell old stories in order to build audiences through exposure and entertainment.

 

We will uphold our Mission by...

1. Diversely and differently casting traditional roles to encourage identity exploration

2. Programming classic or traditional repertoire in a concert setting

3. Casting voices from varying educational backgrounds

4. Providing opportunities for singers to explore different types of repertoire and technique

5. Helping performers to take artistic ownership of their performance product

6. Providing networking opportunities for singers and actors

7. Creating workshops for singers and actors

8. Talk backs and open community for audiences

 

Who are we?

Janus was founded by members of the Chicago singing community who wanted to take an active role in creating opportunities and new spaces for our art form.
